Apple WWDC 2026 Keynote: Everything Announced — Siri AI, iOS 27, and Apple Intelligence

META DESCRIPTION

Apple’s WWDC 2026 delivered Siri AI, iOS 27, and Apple Intelligence. Here’s every announcement, what devices are supported, and what the EU and China is missing.

Apple’s former CEO Tim Cook has stepped onto the stage for the last time. He will replace John Ternus as Apple’s new CEO on September 1, 2026.

The promises that Apple has been unable to fulfill for the past two years have finally been fulfilled and a brand new and powerful ‘Siri‘ has been unveiled. A huge and important software update has been brought to every Apple device (iPhone, Mac computer, iPad). There are no unnecessary things or long lists in this guide. It only tells you what has actually changed in your phone, computer or iPad, why it is important, and whether this new update will work on your phone or not.

What Is WWDC 2026? Event Overview and Schedule

WWDC stands for “Worldwide Developers Conference“. Every year in June, Apple brings together those who create apps for the iPhone, Mac computer, and Apple Watch. The first day of this event is a major presentation (Keynote) in which new announcements are made to ordinary users.

This year the event was held at Apple’s Apple Park in Cupertino, California from June 8 to 12 (2026). This year’s slogan was “All Systems Glow“, which meant that Apple is very optimistic about its new AI (Artificial Intelligence) systems this time.

One of the most important thing: This event is always for software only (system updates). There will be no new iPhones, new laptops, or any new machines launched. If you are waiting for the iPhone 18, it will come in September. All the things mentioned in this event are new software that will run on your current phones.

When will it be available?

Beta version: This software has been available for app developers since June 8, while the testing version for the general public will come in July

Actual launch: Its final version (such as iOS 27 for iPhone and new software for MacOS Golden Gate) will be released to everyone with the new iPhone in September or October (fall) of this year.

Siri AI — Apple’s Biggest Assistant Overhaul in 15 Years

Siri is the personal assistant that helps you get things done just by asking. But now Apple has rebuilt it with a more powerful and smarter “AI” (Artificial Intelligence) than ever before.

New name (Siri AI): Apple has presented its new version at its new conference (WWDC 26), which has been named Siri AI or Apple Intelligence. The way to use it is the same as before, that is, you can just call it by saying “Hey Siri”.

What can it do? This new Siri can understand your personal things, go inside different apps and work, see what’s open on your phone’s screen, understand images and have information from around the world.

Biggest change: Apple Vice President (VP) Mike Rockwell says that “this is the biggest and most important change to Siri since it was created in 2011.” And given the new features shown off, that seems to be true.

What Siri AI Can Actually Do

  • Screen Awareness: Siri can now see what’s open on your phone’s screen. For example, if you’re reading an email about a hotel reservation and you tell Siri to “Write this on my calendar,” she’ll look at the date and time and make a note of it. You won’t have to tell her. Personal Context Search: Siri can now find things in your messages, emails, and photos. You can ask her, “What hotel did I stay at on my last trip?” and she’ll find it for you.
  • Multi-step Commands: Siri can now do things for multiple apps at once. You can tell her, “Find last week’s photos, create a folder of them, and send them to my friend.” She’ll do it all on her own, without you having to keep switching apps.
  • Memory: Siri will now remember your old conversations. If you say, “What we were talking about earlier…”, it will understand where you are pointing.
  • New Siri App: Siri will now have a separate chat app (like ChatGPT). It will reside in the ‘Dynamic Island’ on top of the phone so that you can quickly talk to it whenever you want and get the latest information from the internet.
  • Automatic password change: This is a huge time-saving feature. If you tell Siri to “Change my weak passwords”, it will automatically go to different websites, log in, create new and strong passwords and save them.

How It’s Powered — And the Google Question

Apple’s new Siri AI is now developed with the help of Google’s Gemini. Its most difficult and large tasks run on Apple Foundation Models (AFM)

3 ways to protect privacy: Apple has created three ways to protect data:

  1. On-device processing:  Many of the intelligent features (AI Features) of the smartphone do not go to the Internet or any external computer (Server). They run directly within your own mobile. This keeps your data safe and also makes the work faster.
  2. Private Cloud Compute: Apple Intelligence uses on-device processing, as well as Private Cloud Compute, which ensures your data is not stored or accessible to Apple or anyone else.
  3. End-to-end encryption:  This means that when you send a message or chat with someone, that information is so secure that only you and that other person can see or read it. No third party, not even Apple itself, can hear or read what you say.

Apple claims that your personal data is not stored or shared anywhere.

What is the real problem?

Apple always said that “we do not use your data for advertising, like Google.”

But now Siri AI itself is running on Google’s system. Apple says that the system is Google’s, but the security is ours, so the data will be safe. Now it’s up to you whether you believe them or not. An important event from the past: In 2024, Apple promised some very good features of Siri AI, but they did not come on time. Because of this, users sued and Apple had to pay $ 250 million (about $ 250 million) out of court. Now Apple is also legally compelled to bring these new features.

When and where will it be available?

Launch: This new system will come in September 2026 only in English (for testing). In China, Siri AI and the other new Apple Intelligence features will not be available.

IOS 27 — New Feature Coming to Your iPhone

Apple is bringing a new software update for iPhones, iOS 27, in September this year. It will be released with the new iPhone 18. For those who want to test it, the trial version (Beta) is available now.

The biggest and most important change:

Now you can make any other AI assistant of your choice (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude) the main assistant of your iPhone instead of Siri. This is a huge change in Apple’s history, because earlier Apple did not allow any other system to be replaced in its iPhones in this way. Now you will be able to do your work more easily by choosing the model of your choice..

Design & System Improvement

Last year, Apple created a new design for its software called Liquid Glass. Now, keeping in mind the preferences of users, they have made some new changes to it so that it becomes easier to use.

Key changes and features:

Ease of reading: Its background has been made in such a way that now the text written on it looks clearer and clearer.

New slider: Every person has different preferences. That is why Apple has given a new slider. With the help of this, you can lighten or darken the colors of the design and the style like glass as you wish. This change will be applied automatically to all apps.

Improved toolbar: A similar toolbar has been created at the top in Mac (macOS) apps, so that the headings and buttons are clearly visible separately.

Sidebar improvements: The sidebar has been extended to the very edge of the screen to keep the view clear and apps open. The sidebar icons will now be colored to make it easier to identify apps.

Corners: All windows on your computer will now have the same rounded corners, giving the entire system a uniform and beautiful look.

What Else Is New in iOS 27

  • Photos: In Photos, your iCloud shared albums can now include all the photos and videos from your latest adventures, as your friends on Android or Windows can join and share their own captures to the album. And more, shared albums now support full-resolution sharing. In the Health app, cycle tracking now has support for perimenopause and menopause. You can be notified when your cycle patterns suggest perimenopause. Log your relevant symptoms and read educational information so you can understand more about what’s happening to your body and be better prepared to talk to your doctor.
  • Messages: Now, Messages uses Apple Intelligence to understand the context of your conversations and offers one-tap suggestions, making it easier than ever to get things done, like creating a reminder or a note. Or if someone asks for photos, Messages helps you find the right ones. Just tap Search for Photos and Messages recognizes keywords, locations, and people named in your library to find the best options.
  • Safari: It’s now easier than ever to manage multiple Tabs while browsing the internet. If your password on a website is weak or outdated, the new Siri AI lets you change it right there with the press of a button. No more having to open a separate password app.
  • Home: The Home app can now use Apple Intelligence to analyze recorded clips from compatible cameras and generate descriptions that summarize what happened in them. When you play a clip, the Home app seamlessly connects them together to give you the whole picture. Or if you’re still looking for that one specific moment, like a package delivery, and a vehicle you can find exactly what you’re looking for across multiple cameras.

MacOS Golden Gate, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 — What’s New Across Apple’s Platforms

  1. MacOS 27 – Golden Gate Siri AI will also be available in Europe: People in European countries using Mac computers will also get the new Siri AI (while the iPhone is banned there). The computer screen will now look more beautiful with Visual Intelligence tools, Liquid Glass refinements, and the full Siri AI feature set. These new features will only run on computers with Apple’s own new chips (Apple Silicon). Older computers with Intel are now left behind.
  2. For iPad (iPadOS 27) iPhone-like software: All the new features that have come in the iPhone (iOS 27) have also been given to the iPad. The new Siri AI will also be available in this, but those living in European countries will not get it. It has now become easier to run multiple apps at the same time, the same Photos and Messages upgrades.
  3. Apple Watch (watchOS 27) Siri AI on the watch: Now you can get a lot of tasks done through artificial intelligence (AI) by talking to your smartwatch. Only for new models: This feature will only work on 5 new watches (such as Series 10, Ultra 2, and SE 3). If you have an older watch, you will not get this new feature.
  4. For Apple Vision Pro Headset (visionOS 27) Availability in Europe: The new Siri AI will also work in this headset within Europe. A great feature has come for people with disabilities, with the help of which they can control the wheelchair and screen with just their eye gestures (Eye Tracking), without moving their hands.
  5. For Apple TV (tvOS 27) No major changes: This year, Apple TV has been completely ignored, there are no new major features. Only one change: The option to increase the text size in the TV settings has been given for easier reading.
  6. For AirPods Hands-Free (AirPods) Custom Sound (Custom EQ): Now you can set the sound of the songs (Bass and Treble) according to your wishes and preferences. Music lovers have been waiting for this feature for years.

Apple’s new security rules for children

Apple has made the parental controls system on its phones and iPads much better and easier than before. Now it has become much easier for parents to monitor their children’s mobile phones and impose restrictions.

1. Creating a child account is now very easy: Earlier, when creating a child account, it was not clear which app to download and which not. Now, as soon as the account is created, Apple itself brings up the names of safe and good apps based on the child’s age. This account is mandatory for children under 13 years of age, while it can also be used for young people up to 18 years of age.

2. New permission system (Ask to Browse & Buy) Permission to use the Internet: Whenever children under 13 try to open a new website on the Internet (Safari), a message will be sent to the parents’ phone. Parents can allow or block it in a second, even from a distance. Children cannot download or buy any game or app of their own free will. For this, permission from parents must also be obtained. This setting is now already turned on.

3. Control over conversations: Parents can now decide who their child can talk to on the phone, messages or FaceTime and who they cannot. For example, the child will only be able to call family members, not strangers they meet on the Internet.

4. Protection from immoral images: If someone sends a wrong or naked image to a child on their mobile, or the child starts sending such an image to someone, the phone will blur the image before it is seen and warn the child.

5. Screen Time: Now parents can easily set a time limit for how long children will play games and how long they will use social media. If the family is going on a trip somewhere abroad, parents can also temporarily stop all restrictions with just one click. A new and easy page has been created where parents can see at a glance how much time the child spent on which app throughout the day.

What Apple DIDN’T Announce — Hardware, EU Users, and Missing Features

No hardware announcements, no new phones or devices

Before the event, people were saying that maybe we would see a foldable iPhone (Ultra) or Apple’s smart glasses (AI Glasses), but nothing like that happened. There was only talk of software at WWDC 2026. Apple did not show a single new physical product (mobile, laptop, etc.). By the way, this event usually shows software, but this time there were a lot of rumors about new hardware.

So if you want to see a new phone or device, you’ll have to wait for the September event. New CEO was absent: John Ternus, who will replace Tim Cook as Apple’s new CEO on September 1, was nowhere to be seen at the event. He was neither introduced nor told that the company’s leader was about to change. This was quite a surprise to everyone.

Bad news for users in the European Union (EU) and China:

Apple is in a dispute with the European Union’s (DMA) rules. For this reason, iPhone and iPad users in Europe will not initially get “Siri AI”.

What will not be available?

Standalone Siri App Special tools for seeing and understanding (Visual Intelligence Tools) New tools to help with writing (Writing Tools) Using Siri within the Camera app will work on MacBook and Vision Pro: The good thing is that this restriction is not on Mac and Apple Vision Pro. These features will work there in Europe too.

But Apple has not given a date for when it will come to the iPhone and iPad. China is also off the list: Due to China’s strict laws, “Siri AI” is not being given there at the beginning. Big disappointment: This is a big shock for iPhone users in the European Union, because they are currently not getting the biggest and most special thing (Siri AI) of this entire event.

Tim Cook’s Farewell — End of an Era at Apple

Tim Cook took over as CEO of Apple in August 2011, when Steve Jobs fell ill. He ran the company for 15 years and during his tenure, big things like the iPhone 6, Apple Watch, AirPods and new MacBook chips (Apple Silicon) were launched. Now on September 1, 2026, he is replacing John Ternus as the new CEO. WWDC 2026 was Tim Cook’s last big event. He got emotional in his farewell speech and said that Apple’s goal has always been to improve people’s lives. According to photos from the event, he was a little teary while saying goodbye, because 15 years is a very long time.

Tim Cook’s tenure was mixed in terms of AI. Apple took a long time to fulfill the AI promises it made in 2024 and they were incomplete. Market experts and investors felt that Apple was lagging behind companies like Google, Microsoft and Meta. To make up for this shortfall, Apple was forced to partner with Google. Five years ago, no one could have imagined that Apple would do this. Now only time (a couple of years) will tell whether Apple has caught up with other companies after WWDC 2026. This confusion was also clearly visible in Apple’s share prices. When the market opened on the day of the event, the shares went up by2%, but as soon as the presentation started, the prices fell down. That is, the market was still not completely satisfied with Apple’s performance.

The future of the new CEO (John Ternus) New leader, new question: What will be the future of Apple with the arrival of the new CEO John Ternus, this is a big question right now. He is mainly an expert in hardware (chips and computers), so nothing can be said yet about how he will advance the company’s AI strategy. Currently, the features developed under Tim Cook will be seen in John Ternus’s upcoming new iPhone 18.

Should You Be Excited? Our Thoughts on WWDC 2026

What did Apple do well?

Siri AI: The new Siri is very lively. It will be able to understand what is on your mobile screen, work from one app to another and remember your personal data. If it works properly, it will be very beneficial in everyday use. Apple has done a rare thing that now users can make ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude their main assistant instead of Siri. Apple has recognized that a single AI model is not enough for everyone.

Parental Controls: The system for parents to monitor their children’s phones and set age-based restrictions has been made much better and easier.

Partnership with Google: Apple is using Google servers to run its premium AI. Although Apple says that the data will be safe, those who used to buy Apple because they did not trust Google will now be a little worried. However, Apple has not hidden this fact, which is a good thing. This year is very good for iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 owners. The new Siri will change the way you operate your phone and make things much easier. Just remember that initially you will have to run the testing (Beta) software.

iPhone 14 or older: You will get new software (iOS 27), which will improve photos, messages and search. But the most important feature (Siri AI) will not work on your phone because it requires a new chip. If you want to get a new phone, this is a good opportunity.

Big disappointment for European Union (EU) users. The most important feature is not available to you at the moment. Surprisingly, Siri AI will work on Mac there but not on iPhone. Until the dispute between Apple and the European government ends, the situation will remain like this.

Developers: This year is a great one for developers. Now they will be able to connect their apps with Siri AI and gain access to Apple’s system like never before.
